I don’t even know if I could stop at ten… Architecture Without Architects and Streets for People by Paul Rudofsky come to mind immediately. Scully’s The Earth, The Temple and The Gods is another. BIG’s Yes is More is really cool, too, not to mention all the other “coffee table” architecture books one can own. All of David Macaulay’s illustrated books are wonderful! I think that’s about ten, already! And I’m just getting started…

What about any books by David Macaulay? You take your pick. In many words, they are about architecture and construction.

Great list, Frank. Thanks for posting this and launching the discussion.
My personal goal is to write works of fiction that make lists like this.
Architecture Holds a Thousand Stories that the world wants to read, watch, and play (I’m including Gaming now with Books, Blogs, TV, and Film). We cherish these academic books – they don’t.
Let’s give the people some stories!

I’m re-reading your post and my replay four and a half years later. 2018 may be the year I finally publish some worthy short stories of architects and architecture.
